Hey everybody, I hope you are enjoying your long weekend... I would like to share my website newsletter with you tonight... I just sent it out... this is a day of gratitude and celebration for me...

September 4, 1994... 9 – 4 – 94 is the day I accepted being an alcoholic. Seven years earlier I admitted to being an alcoholic, but it never entirely sunk in until I accepted that as fact. That one drink for me was to many. Today, by the Grace of God I celebrate 17 years of sobriety.
Last night I went to a meeting and received my 17th year chip and passed it around for everyone to touch and to spiritually put their experience, strength, and hope on that chip. I was asked how I did it. I shared that I have reached a point of total surrender. Not to life but to my Higher Power. That if I just go with the flow... all things will come true... all my hopes... all my dreams... will happen exactly when they should. I feel like I'm on a two seat bicycle. My Higher Power is in front steering and I'm in back helping by pedaling. He is guiding and I'm observing. All the peaks and all the valleys are simply gorgeous.
I look at where I was two years ago and it was a dead place. My sobriety was safe, my life was safe, but I was dying a little bit everyday. I had lost my hopes and my dreams. I have refound those hopes and dreams and more importantly I have refound my Higher Power.
Fittingly what I share on www.daveharm.com this month with “The Law of Energy” shares these same beliefs.
The thing with dreams and hopes is that sometimes we don't even realize they are one of our dreams. Two years ago I would have never believed I would have traveled to Europe and I did and I loved it. I loved it so much that I am returning this holiday season as well. My hostess invited me back and I jumped at the opportunity to do so.
One hope I had early in sobriety was becoming a substance abuse counselor, well that hope was changed by my Higher Power and on August 16th a dream came to life when I became a certified NLP Practitioner. I share more about that on www.daveharm.com and exactly what it is and how it works. I enjoyed the studies so much and it fits in so well with the 12 Step Programs that I have signed up to become a Certified NLP Master Practitioner.
In two weeks, I'll be down in Hot Springs, Arkansas speaking at a “National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month” function. Something that started to pop up last year but things fell through. This year we both made sure it would work out and it is all set to go. Keep me in your prayers that I do well and have a safe trip and return.
As I celebrate 9/4/94, I want you to look inside and find your dreams. Don't worry about making plans for them to become reality... just find those dreams and hold on to them. They give us our hopes and make our journey exciting and we can view the journey through the eyes of a child. James Allen once said, “Dream lofty dreams, and as you dream, so you shall become. Your vision is the promise of what you shall one day be; your ideal is the prophecy of what you shall at last unveil.”
Hoping your dreams come true
Have a great month...
Dave
