That is great to read.

The main thing for me was to 'keep coming back' even when my disease wanted me to not to go! If I kept my bottom on a seat then I could start to hear a new solution (and hope) that would come into my life.

Today I am an alcoholic who has had the obsession to drink removed! I find that amazing and am truly grateful every day. And all because, like you, I entered AA and then became willing to do what was suggested :)

4 days is awesome.

Welcome FishingMan, well done on your first four days! I remember my first AA meeting well. I owe a lot to AA and the people I meet along the way who help me on the path of happy sobriety!

Giday FM, and welcome to the group. As M8 said is a great place to find sobriety and as Fair said a lot of help on their journey.

For me I found a life that exceeded all my dreams once I put the grog down and picked up the solution.

Keep coming back! I remember going to meetings religiously, and after a year, they gave me a big party and we had a grand ole time....a few months later I stopped going to meetings thinking I didn't need them anymore. Boy, was I wrong! My life began going downhill, job loss, bankruptcy, divorce, it all hit me like a ton of bricks!

When all was said and done, I put my life back into the control of my Higher Power and all kinds of miracles began happening again!

Don't ever stop going to meetings Fish! I don't know what it is there that works, if it's the collective group consciousness or what but it had amazing benefits for me. Today, I live my life by the 12 steps and I have never been happier.

Thanks all for your replies and support. After 4 weeks I had a major set back & hit it pretty hard. Don't know what to do. I need to stop before I loose my family. I thought I could just have 1 or 2 drinks no problem 1 or 2 very quickly turned into 3 of 4 then 10!!!!!
