I am not satisfied with that I want the best recovery I can have and I have always been willing to work hard and challenge myself to get it. I think it is easy to say well its better than drinking so I'm happy with it but I have never been like that. I saw what was possible in recovery and I wanted it.
I would never say my recovery is the best or I am perfect or anything like that. But what I would say is that I am always striving to make it the best it can be. That doesn't always involve going to loads of meetings or doing obvious AA stuff but it does always involve growing spiritually, helping others and trying to be the best person I can be.
I read all of the aa approved literature the first 6 months after I got sober, Along with some of old school AA reading material. And pretty much from the beginning I knew I was Alcoholic and needed to get a program of recovery thru AA's steps, group service, district and area positions and sponsoring and being sponsored so I've never weighed the options I just did what was next.....It's probably a real good thing I was convinced right away and did not smorgasbord AA.. My biggest lesson from the beginning to now has been the art of staying in the moment , which therapy, meditation and beginning to learn a different way of processing thing's were given to me ,through all the things I mentioned.
All my sponsors over the years have all agreed on one thing ..PaY attention and utilize what it is in myself that might wanna short change my experience or (avoid) things......It's hard to give someone something if they desire something else; that's where Alanon has helped along with ACOA in helping me to see my blind spots in those areas.(carrying a message) and the process of that, which i only question now if i'm trying to much to sugar coat something or being overly attached to my words lol
