When I am felling depressed, I repeat to myself statements such as these:
"Pain is the touchstone of progress."..."Fear no evil."..."This, too, will
pass."..."This experience can be turned to benefit."
These fragments of prayer bring far more than mere comfort. They keep me on the track of right acceptance; they break up my compulsive themes of guilt, depression, rebellion, and pride; and sometimes they endow me with the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

And if that wasn't enough they suggested that progress was a Action word, resting on my laurels, just as deadly as anything to a still suffering sober Alcoholic .
Oh and" this to shall pass" also rumor's of things to come. When I became tired of stagnant sooobriety and ventured out and felt some more Truth in My sober life.
" Pain is inevitable but suffering is optional".
Oh and yes I do believe that seeds planted, lay in wait for the right time to germinate ha ha! Humans being are like a computer lots of info but the right soft ware needed to initiate the program that runs it :)
