I heard some in the program " Burn the idea into the consciousness of every man that he can get well, regardless of anyone . The only condition is he trust God and clean house". That is what step seven means to me- that I'm going to clean house and will have all the help I need. Do i realize that by taking the seventh step, that I am not really giving up a thing, but instead getting rid of everything that might lead me back to my addictions and away from peace of mind.

Even though I truly believe to get the program for me is staying humble though all the steps.
It says in the step 7 prayer "........every defect of character which stands in the way of my usefulness to you and my fellows". By having these removed I am able to keep a clear channel open between me and my higher power and thus help others which keeps me from selfishness and selfcentredness (the root of my troubles) and gives me recovery and peace of mind.
