Questions about the steps

Hi group,


I hope everyone is well.


I have a question about the steps. I heard the expression, "about studying the steps." How do you study the steps? I have done the steps but my sponsor and I never studied the steps so I was wondering how do you study the steps?


I am now 21 years sober thanks to AA. Very grateful but sometimes I get complacent. I feel like I am starting over so I am back to basics.

Ha. Do you need to study if you've been getting an A in AA for 21 years?

I don't know if you're studying the steps as much as you are studying yourself in relation to each step.

That is a good point something to think about.. I work the steps but as time passes, I get complacent so I thought may be reviewing each step more carefully will help me to maintain sobriety.

I appreciate the input.

I regularly attend step meetings and Big Book study meetings, they have been invaluable in my recovery, as I grow in AA so does my understanding of God's will for me and the meaning of the steps in my daily life

Thank you for your input. I hope someday I will get to the point where I understand God's will for me. So far all I know is that God wants me to stay sober and the steps and meetings help me a great deal. Your share reminded me that I need to start reading "Daily reflections" again.

Hi Koyu, I don't think I will ever fully know or understand God's will for me, however I ask every day during my quiet time what it is, and that he power to carry it out, and since I have been doing that, I have never been happier or more contented and at ease with life.
