When I was drinking my reaction to situations was always all about me, it came from a self centred place. My reactions werent appropriate - always over reacting due to fear, anger, selfishness or just the effects of being drunk and over emotional.

I can be more patient now and because I am not focused on myself all the time I can have some compassion for others. Sometimes in the heat of difficult situations my reactions are too quick and unthinking. Then amends follow!

Work to do on establishing that inner space. Think thats why it says practice of patience - it does require practice to establish it as a way of being.

I find if i just pause ,take it easy and remember. It all (thoughts ) can and do become created in a flash and what i think it is May not always be the case... But it still is food for thought !! The reaction in a flash Maybe irrational or maybe a blessing to pay attention Too! character regeneration lol Nice Quote!

Yes, definitely takes practice and for me a deepening relationship with my Higher Power. What's great is that I catch myself these days and make a conscious effort to practice patience. I think it was Thich Nhat Hanh who said that a red light is our friend!! I think of that every time I'm rushing and getting a little impatient. Where am I running to? !!! I can actually enjoy the minute or so at the red light and just breathe. :)))

I love this and the responses. I get impatient fast. I seem hard wired to want to go fast.
