aa friends Community Group
Welcome. If you come to visit for the first time and have some questions feel free to ask. PM someone if you like but don't stay a stranger. We were all in the pit. We know a way out. No condemnation and no hammers. Just ask and prepare to make a load of friends.
Grateful this program is about progress not perfection.
It was burned into my being as a youngster by parents and then my environment, that I must bulldoze through whatever is in my way to get to where I needed to be. That sheer persistence and strength of will would be my best friends. What a crock! Un-learning has been a huge part of recovery for me.
Persistence and stubbornness are not the same thing. One has the ability to be flexible and one does not. Flexibility appears important these days to get through this life without hurting self or others. Flexibility in my perspective and remaining teachable..... knowing there are many options and ways of looking at things... many avenues to get to where I desire to be. When I take the time to find the win/win, the way of love, I am usually following closer to HP's Will, rather than my way. Not that I am easily able to find it.
I had a little saying when new in recovery,
"Hello....
This is your Higher Power....
I don't need your help today....
Just follow My lead....
Tread lightly....
And try not to trip....
Over your own feet!" (Feat!!)
I wrote it on my mirror and read it many times a day. It helped.
Great topic. Thank you for reminding me!!
In Love, Light, Truth, & Service,
