Hi there, new here and to DS. I'm going to my first meeting tonight. I'm uber nervous. I'm a almost 40 (eek, this year) mom to two kids ages 10 and 9. My father (if you would call him that) is an alcoholic. We don't speak. I found myself following in his footsteps, until I 1) got busted by my husband and 2) got tired of waking up hungover with regret and shame. Every day is a struggle. And I'm on Day 2. Oy...

Welcome anne, glad to have you here. Hope all goes well at your 1st meeting. I was told to go and listen and not compare but listen to the similarity"s. There a solution to your problem everyone here has went through what your going through now.

Welcome Anne. How was your meeting?

My older sister just started going to meetings. She's still drinking but has "cut down". I still remember the last time she cut down. It last about 4 days and she got snockered. She called me the next day and said "well, so much for controlled drinking". Not my business whether she sobers up or not but I sure would like to see her sober.

I never knew I could have a life like the one I've got today. LIFE in big neon letters! That is my wish for you!

Hi! I'm new too. A lot of people around me are fed up with my drinking and I want to move on in my life. I say this sometimes and usually end up giving up after 4 days or so, but I hope not this time. I don't want to have to risk looking my job because I am hung over, or have to keep living with my parents because I can't afford to move out. Plus they are very worried about me and told me that I have to move out or do something about it. Anyway I just try to keep busy every day and focus on the future. We shall see. I hope your meeting was awesome! Good luck to you :)
