How often I avoided a task in my drinking days, just because it
appeared so large! Is it any wonder even if I have been sober for
some time, that I will act that same way when faced with what
appears to be a monumental job, such as a searching and fearless
moral inventory of myself? What I discover after I have arrived
at the other side--when my inventory is completed--is that the
illusion was greater than the reality. The fear of facing myself
kept me at a standstill and, until I became willing to put
pencil to paper, I was arresting my growth based on an intangible.

This was really my start to recovery.
I still have fears and I pray for them to be removed, and I still act out from a place of fear, but now I am awake to the why's of what I do and feel, and also have my sponsor, therapist and/or others in the fellowship who I can bounce stuff off of.
False Evidence Appearing Real.
I heard it first from Gary Busey while he was on Celebrity Rehab. It is a oft used quote, and I love it.
I wig out way too much, and fear guides my hand way too much.

The achilles heel remains my inability to quit smoking pot.
No twelve step meetings anywhere within a hundred miles here, but I do have a weekly therapy session, with a super therapist. We are about to start a treatment plan called The Matrix, for addiction. Just replacing the pot for ethanol.
Hope you guys don't mind a struggling pothead here, I am so into 12 steps, and have drank an ocean of booze too. Still am, a little. I need this group. Thanks, Red.
