Whenever I was asked to read from the big book I would always choose this passage because for me it really was the key to my getting sober, my life suddenly became so much easier and I realized that it was me and not them!
I am concentrating hard on this advice at this time in my life as I have no other choice yet. Drinking is definitely not a choice. It may block the pain for a while but would come back and I would have a whole new set of problems to deal with.Thanks gim.

Is acceptance admitting powerlessness (step 1)? I was heading toward step 3, feeling pretty darn good about myself and the world in general. I was ready for step 3...... then I drank. Everything gone... just that fast. My saddened sponsor told me I was back at step 1. Im trying to get a handle on this. My drinking indicates that I do no accept that I am powerless? Wouldn't the fact that I drank when all was fine indicate powerlessness? Does admitting powerlessness, accepting the facts of the situation, change our powerlessness?

If you think this doesn't make any sense..... you should spend some in my head.... lol

Jan personally I hear You Yes!! The proof is in the Pudding You drank ,There fore you are (powerless) Your words Ok :)
