I've been at DS for a while, but mostly with the Family and Friends of Addicts group.
My youngest son has recently been diagnosed with Asberger's and I have so much to learn. He is 21 and it's killing me that it took so long to find out. He is one of the ones you here about who was misdiagnosed as a child with ADDHD. Anyway, at least now we know for sure and it all makes sense. I'm really thankful for this group.
I wish I had known when I was younger. To me it a relief to know I have it for years I just felt I was weird and or ugly and that is why I didn't make and keep friends.
I didn't know until I was about 15-16 years old, thanks to my mom for doing a lot of research on it and finally I got diagnosed with Borderline AS. I am very grateful for my mom really looking into AS because I have always felt so different from others and didn't know what was wrong with me. I hope and pray your son get's the right help now that he is properly diagnosed....Big hugs!!! x
