For people who make and receive a lot of calls and text messages, this is probably a better deal than the TracFone. They offer family plans and allow you to bring your own 4g phone for service in many cases, or you can buy a cell phone at Walmart to use in the StraightTalk plan.

I've been using a Samsung that came from the Nextel plan we use. I have been using it for over two years. I am pretty happy with it. Anybody know how to use a "Smartphone" or an "ipad"?

Although I've occationally thought about getting one.

I know of only one real way to learn how to use a smart-phone or tablet, and that's to go out and buy one, take it home, charge it up, turn it on, and have it activated if it needs to be activated, and then start pushing buttons to see what happens. That may not be the answer people are looking for, but it's all I've got! ;-)

My husband has a smart phone ( which he loves ). I still don't understand much about it, but some features are very cool. I have an old - fashioned flip phone that I love. He is a computer man, and he already wants a more current / expensive model. I have an iPad that I love, and I think he wants one of those too . The technology is almost too complicated for me. I learn so much from him, but lately he does not teach me unless I ask. I'm silly - I just wanted to say that I guess I'm just old fashioned.

In a perfect world, I would not own one except for travel. Since I have young grandkids and an elderly mother, it is a necessity. We spend way too much on our our Vampire Verizon Plan. Husband travels for living and needs absolute reliability and unlimited minutes. Im hooked onto his plan for $20 more a month.

Beware of smart phones, which require extra fee ($30?) monthly to even WORK!, because of internet access. The not so smart phones cost MORE than these fancy ones, since they know they will not be getting the extra $30.

Big cell phone companies are vultures.

In Florida, we can receive a free phone. You get 250 minutes and 250 texts. It's not alot but its enough for me. You have to have low incomed, but who isn't?!?!?!?!?
