I am not a particularly religious person at the moment. I also recognize that many of our existing laws are bad laws that need to be changed. I live mostly by two simple rules:

1. Do unto others as you would have done unto you. (The Golden Rule)
2. I will not lie, cheat, or steal; nor will I tolerate anyone who does.

How about you?

Yes, realizing how our actions and words effect others. Honesty is so important, not just the words that are spoken, but the intent. I do study the Bible. The Ten Commandments are great.

So we practice loving ourselves first. If we do not do that, it is a lead pipe cinch we cannot love anybody else.
