When first invited...
1) I didn't have time to participate - and I still don't. lol
2) I wasn't sure this was a group I'd want to join...
Obviously, I've changed my mind. So far, I've enjoyed reading many discussions - even tho I've been reading them silently - as an outsider.

Now, addressing this topic.

A friend I met in DS started a wonderful group that she called "Self-Mastery". I'd started one called "Finding Serenity". Since both of us are pretty busy - and right now she is very busy, AND since we were both taking our groups in the same direction - we decided to merge.

Our Group is now called: Finding Serenity thru Self Mastery.
Unfortunately, Groups can only have one founder. Right now I am listed as the Founder and wannahelp is the Administrator.

For us these are just titles... In fact, we are Co-Founders. Doesn't make much difference since there is very little that a Founder can do that an Adminstrator can't. In any case, as soon as wannahelp's schedule frees up, we'll switch positions.

Gotta be honest... as it is I don't do much monitoring of the group. Fortunately, some of the members are on top of welcoming new members (Whew). LOL

I'm not really interested in making our group an "Active" group - or a large group. As water reaches its own level, so will this group. I see it more as a library of information to help ppl improve their lives. Not quite sure how wannabe sees it; if - when she has more time - she chooses to go the active route, that's her privelege.

Would be nice if DS would set these up so we could have Co-Founders, but at least by having the Administration position, we can both do the same things (write news articles, delete discussions, etc., and switch positions when needed).

BTW - I'm pretty sure wannahelp is also a member of this group. LOL, I probably should PM her... we haven't had much time to stay in touch. (sigh)

Thought I would add my voice as a founder of many years.I foundered groups many years before DS came on the scene via yahoo clubs.I still have a group in yahoo as well as DS today.
Yahoo used to have the groups setting so that the founders could merge as founder/cofounder.We each had the same tools and controls.
I can truthfuly say that iam glad that DS dosnt allow merging the foundership together.I had a cofounder that deleted my group of 400 people out of spite against me.
I had worked very hard on building the group to the successful level that it was and I was devastated,but it wasnt coming back.
So we are better off because of people like that being seperate group founders.

Sorry to say, but I can see the wisdom in what you say. Still, I believe it will work for me and Sherri. Neither of us started groups for the personal glory of founding a group. Ditto for merging. We both share the same goal of helping ourselves and others live and learn a better way.

I agree with you Len my story was shared only because bad things can happen to good people some time.Iam sure you have better respect for each other than my cofounder did for me.In most cases it works very well.I wish you and sherri the best and a very successful group together.

Thanks. These kind of things (teamwork) can be tricky. What helps us is we both have our egos under control. Its apparently that your co-founder didn't.

Then too, we both are busy off-line. And finally, Finding Serenity is sorta like a library - and we stock it with articles that have helped us and that we hope will help others... So it's not like a reg. DS group.

That's a very good reason for starting and merging a group LLL.

Getting back to the original question I guess you could add Administrators and Founders might also want to post group hugs and send group messages of encouragment and greeting.

At the moment I am working with another and we both have been founder and Admin of the same group, we share responsibilities for keeping the posts going and adding informative content. I have always considered my involvement (founder or admin) more like a partnership.

Duh! (Whapping self on head!!!) Wish I'd thought of that (Founders/Admin) sending groups hugs for greetings to new members! BUT, since obviously I didn't, I'm mighty glad you did, Breathes!! Thank you!

Even tho I have a broadband connection... Between my computer and the DS system, it sometimes takes forever to open/send messages on DS. I figure there are others out there, like me, who have the same problem. Since, I don't like taking up other ppl's time unless I really have a "message", I'm not much for sending Group Messages.

But a Group HUG, now that's workable. It's easy & quick to send, and it has a low inconvenience factor for others. Love it!

I wish when we post a group hug that all members would get the hug in their personal hug book, it need only be a brief greeting, but alas at the moment it is an email hug or group hug posted on the group board only.

i just check and see if anybody needs to talk to me. my group is 'a safe to place to talk to' is what its called. dont really have a big group right now and its silent. going through that rollercoaster one that beaumont tlked about.

Is there a link anywhere on DS where people can go to give suggestions like the one you just mentioned Breathes??

I have some usability suggestions that I wouldn't mind sharing... if they don't have one ... if someone from DS wanted to they could start a Group for "Future Feature Suggestions".

Good Idea Julia - What I have done so far is communicate with the Team or Doug directly re suggestions, no feed back though accept the standard thank you mail. I think there is a link in FAQ (via top right Help button) for on line form.
