people should always tranfer the founder if they are leaving, and first up would be an administrator. however, if someone dies without warning, you can write to team ds and state the person is no longer on ds, can you take over the group. this has actually happened, not from death but someone left ds and left the group hanging. team ds DID give the group to the person who requested it.

i have head injuries, and recently, a group i had encouraged people to join because it was an excellent trigger and i wrote many things in there, the group was closed down by the founder without warning. ALL of those writings and triggers were lost. i was so stunned that something like that was done.

A situation where I wanted to be a part of a group. The group had few and inactive members.
I tried to contact Founder without success and requested DS to "promote" me to Administration and eventually to be the "Founder." Awkward and solved.

I found a group that had founder absent but because she was still a member of DS even though she was not active I could only get to be an Administrator. Very frustrating.

Another option is always to start a similar discussion group, post a few discussion topics, post some news articles, perhaps add a group hug message, and then invite people to join your new group.
