the ones thats the most active, and have used the one where someone really needed to do something and needed it but if you really need an admin i always go for the most active dont make a difference if we dont agree on everything that makes for interesting conversation

I think that it should be a person that comes here alot , but someones who is also here long and can agree or disagree but diplomatically.

Or how about you feel that person can add something positve to the group as a leader. Not because they might be popular. For sure not because if you do not give them something more they might leave!

I promote ppl in my groups that I trust above all else not to use the buttons to screw up the room. I wouldn't want someone with delete power to delete the posts or comments to posts among other things.

Next, if i trust them, i have promoted ppl for all the reasons Beamont listed. I will give them certain duties as well that will help the group. I might promote someone just to be the duty group hugger for example.

But sometime you have to give others your permission to make goof ups! If you do not feel that you can step out you can not grow. If you are not making any errors you could possibly not be doing anything! We want our kids to grow up and do things. Hopefully we are not smothering them.

Look how many have had success by taking a chance! My father in law and I had huge discussions about that. He felt a manager had to be a hard task manager of their people. We will not tolerate and slip ups! His people were like statues dressed in suits. All the other departments were growing.

That is not wanting your staff to screw up over and over. Work with them. Guide them. They are not your puppets. Encourage them to be bright and creative. Let your department or what ever grow. Then give THEM the credit!

I agree with you Researcher, not your father-in-law! I look for ppls strenghts and give them an area that will compliment those strengths. The rooms I created have had much success because of that. And letting ppl know they are doing a great job is really important, it helps them to grow even more.

Not sure i know what a group's administrators is. But if its the person in charge of deciding who stays in group and who leaves and whose post are left on the message board.. I would think you would pick a person who is strong enough to be tuff with abusers and intelligent enough to know when the differences between abusing the system and crying out for help and compassionate enough to put aside ego and do the right thing.

But also someone who you can trust, I once had an admin slowly steal my group for me and when I finally realized it was to late she had another account and I totally trusted her but found out on DS there really isnt that kind of trust left to much of anymore.
