Thinking this one over, the best answer I could come up with is that long ago when people slept under trees and in caves or out in the open under the star-filled sky, they were vulnerable to being eaten by lions and tigers and bears. Quite by fortunate accident, some people snored when they slept, and to predators, the snoring sounded like the growling of a big fearsome animal. People who didn't snore got eaten in their sleep, and so didn't pass on their DNA. That's Beaumont's zany answer to, "Why do people snore?" What's yours?
