One year at Duke University, two guys were taking Chemistry, and they did pretty well on all of the quizzes and the midterms and the labs, so that they had solid "A" grades. The two friends were so confident headed into the final that the weekend before finals week (even though the Chemistry final was on Monday), they decided to drive up to the University of Virginia and party and hang out with some friends there. So they did this and had a good time. Howevever, with the staying up late and everything, they overslept on Sunday and didn't make it back to Duke until early Monday morning. Rather than take the final then, they found Professor Bonkers after the final and explained to him why they had missed it. They told him that they went on a fishing trip over the weekend, and had planned to come back in time to study and take the final exam, but that their car had a flat tire on the way back and they didn't have a spare tire and couldn't get help for a long time and so had gotten back to campus after the final had begun. Professor Bonkers thought this over and agreed that they could make up the final on the following day. The two guys were elated and relieved. They studied that night and went in the next day to take the final exam at the time that Bonkers had arranged for them. He placed them in separate rooms and handed each of them a test booklet and told them to begin. They looked at the first problem, which was a simple question about molarity and solutions, and was worth 5 points. They thought, "Great, this is going to be easy." After doing that problem, they turned the page to continue. They were both unprepared, however, for what they saw on the following page: "For 95 points, which tire went flat?"
