Do you have this situation where you live? What I mean is that you see a sign on a light pole that says "Notice, blah, blah, blah".
Yes, I realize that where I live, during the winter we do have some ice. What I can't realize is that why they have signs in parking lots in our area. I mean, shouldn't it be in two words rather than one? Why do they have "NOT ICE" in one word? Of course, I know that it's a light pole, so why do they have to tell us it's not ice and combine the two words?

I have a picture I took at a municipal reservoir in summer. It said 'NO SKATING THIN ICE!' Considering the temperature was in the middle 80s, that's pretty good advice.
As for the NO ICE....maybe they don't want you to dump your ice there. Maybe it was a problem....people from all over the neighborhood dumping ice by that one pole creating a safety hazard for light co workers.
Must have made sense to SOMEone. You'd think. Maybe not.
