i joined a group in the uk yesterday too. not even half as good as this one but a bit closer to home . thought i might meet someone i can acctually meet up with in there .i love daily strength and i think the people in here are so lovely but the time difference is being a problem too. i am online when others are at work .i am goiing to bed when others are settling down for the night. i dont get to chat to anyone.it makes me feel bad because i want to pop up and say hello.
anyway it had a chat room called the coffee shop so i thought i would take a look.
it had about ten people in there.they all were welcoming at first.everyone chatting and being funny.
one lady decided to pick on me for my spelling errors. asking me if i had gin in my tea. and did i even go to school.
they all joined in .i made a joke of it too but only because i was embarrased. i feel so upset about it.i know my spelling is terrible.it has been for years.ive tryed to work on it but my memory is so bad.
it has left me feeling rreally hurt.

My main thought is that when a person tries to diminish you in such a way, the problem is theirs, and they only achieve diminishing themselves. I really mean that. Don't internalise the crap of a person making nasty remarks while hiding under the anonymous nature of ther Net. I would bet my bottom dollar she would have the guts to say such a nasty, mean spirited thing face to face. But then maybe she would. Either way, you don't need her in your hair.
As you know, DS is very good and there are other sites too, one with the URL http://forums.psychcentral.com/ that is very good too. I have seen very little nastiness there.
I have trouble with the time zones too as I'm in Aus and I can't have running dialogues with people in the US or UK, where most of our members come from. I look at it a different way though. I post as I am doing now, and then in the morning when I get up, or later in the day, I go to my PC and there are heaps of posts on different threads and I can get my teeth into them. It makes me feel like I am communicating with people as I have a very isolated life.
