A Child Abuse Survivors Group Community Group
We survived child abuse, but the pain still remains and so do the other effects which can last a lifetime. We are often unable to find adequate help, and we are seeking answers that can help us understand what happened so that we can go on to lead normal lives. (Please note that this is a group for child abuse survivors only. If you are a professional in the mental health...
I NEED YOUR OPINIONS, I WASH MY HANDS IF I TOUGH SOMETHING DIRTY, LIKE AFTER I PUT MY SHOES ON, AND FOR MOST THINGS, BUT THE REST OF MY FAMILY , UPSET ME , THEY DON'T , AND THIS IS BECOMING A PROBLEM, THEY SEE ME LIKE A NUISANCE, BUT IT AFFECTS ME, LIKE IF YOU TOUCH AND PLAY WITH THE DOGS, OR TAKE THEM OUT, WASH HANDS, AND THEY DON'T, IT IS AFFECTING ME BADLY, AND I KEPT WASHING ALL HANDLES, AND SO ON, I FEEL THAT THEY ARE NOT CAREFUL WITH HANDWASHING, AND GENERAL HYGINE, TIDINESS, AND I AM STRESSING MYSELF, I DO HAVE TO BE CLEAN, AND USE TOWELS OF DIFFERENT SIZE , FACE, FEET, AND A LARGE ONE, I AM SO TIRED OF BEING TOLD TO MIND MYSELF, WHEN THEY ARE NOT WASHING THEIR DIRTY HANDS, OR DRYING WITH THE SAME TOWEL, AND NOT LISTENING TO THE FACT THAT THERE IS BACTERIA AND GERMS, VIRUSES LURKING ALL OVER***
MY DAUGHTER HAD THAT NOROVIRUS YEARS AGO, AND WHO LOOKS AFTER HER, ME, LAST YEAR IT WAS SALMONELLA, AND HER HUSBAND HAD IT TOO, ALL I ASK IS TO BE CAREFUL ,WASH YOUR HANDS**
WELL THEY ARE GONE HOME, AND I AM HOME, HOPE THEY WASH THEIR HANDS, WHAT DO YOU THINK?
LOVE LUCY***
Heretic, I know things may not look good now, but you have options you might not be thinking about in your present state of mind. I've been homeless on and off throughout my lifetime, usually for a few years at a time. What I do is keep a homeless survival backpack at all times. It has a sleeping bag, water bottles, some food, and a couple of changes of clothes. If I do become homeless again, it will get me through the first few weeks, or until it is stolen from me on the streets. Right now, while you have a place to call home, with a shower or bathtub and electricity and all that, you are in the perfect situation to begin looking for new employment. You may not always be in such a good situation, so take advantage of it now. Make a list of your personal reference people along with their telephone numbers that you would want to put on a job application. Make a list of past employers, complete with names of supervisors and dates of employment. Remember, every company must have a certain minimum number of people to stay in business, and among that number there are people who are retiring or leaving for other reasons; those people will need to be replaced by people like you. One technique I have used in the past was to go to shopping centers and walk up and down streets, stopping in every business and asking for an employment application. It's a lot of work, but it's a numbers game - sooner or later you will find someone who will accept your application and contact you for an interview among the many companies you visit. You may find a better job than the one you have now.
Does anyone else have feedback for JOYHOLY and Heretic? How about what's going on in your life as well?
Sometimes a lawyer helps when it comes to getting disability. My sister fought with the powers that be for disability for a year or more and was not successful but when she got a lawyer - she was successful in getting disability.
I am generally not a fan of lawyers but in the case of disability, it might be a good idea. They take their fee out of the settlement and the rest of the payments go to you.
I know how you feel - I thnk. I could no more hold a job down at this point - well - than fly......I can barely remember what I need to get at the grocery store, much less what I would need to do on a job. Please take look online for a disability lawyer in your area. Nothing tried - nothing gained. It can't hurt to look.
Good luck.

We can't see the future based on the past. The future is nearly always different than the past. Your past is dismal, I'll grant you that...but you are making a mistake if you think that your unhappy past dictates your future. You could have a good future out there, but if you off yourself you'll never get a chance at it. There is always a chance that things will get better, they don't always get worse. I don't think you're seeing things clearly right now.
There is only one way that you'll have a zero chance at a better life...and it sounds like that's the option you want to take. Don't do it. Any number is better than zero.
Five years from now the economy could be booming and Vegas could be rolling in cash. There could be all kinds of help for people with illness. Haven't you got the stuff to stick it out for a while? You're probably a hundred times tougher than you think you are.
I lived on the street and I made it through that part of my life. Be strong, not weak.
What fun?
Anyway, today I noticed that three more have decided to grow with the warming of the sun.
AND I am putting out food for the chipmunk so he is not tempted to eat the tops off these baby trees.
Hope it is not a momma munk but I need my trees.
That is my life
We have no job either. I don't know what we will do soon when our little savings runs out.
I can't imagine how anyone thinks that this adminstration is making things better.......I have never lived thru so much bad news and out of work.
It is scary.
Heritic - I wish I could send help. All I can do is pray for an angel to come to your aid.
I know how you feel. I am in constant horrid physical pain from undiagnosed Celiac. The docs told me I was depressed until I weighed 90 pounds (5'8" tall - I looked like those pics of starving children from Africa)
I have permanent damge everywhere. I have some small amount of meds that helps on those days when it is really bad.
The addicts in FLA have made it nearly impossible for docs to give them out and more and more people are just being left to suffer in pain. I plan on ending it when the docs won't help with those days anymore too.
It is so hard to have mental or physical pain in society today. Only the healthy and "go-getters" are viewed as valuable seems to me.
We hear about "he works 90 hours a week" like it is heroic instead of rude to others who can't put in those hours. Why not work 40 hours and put the rest toward helping those who can't help themselves that much???
Sorry, that is my soap box.
I have no great words of wisdom as I live over the pond so don't know your systems, but I can listen and be a friend. Take good care of you..
Keep us posted - okay?
