A Child Abuse Survivors Group Community Group
We survived child abuse, but the pain still remains and so do the other effects which can last a lifetime. We are often unable to find adequate help, and we are seeking answers that can help us understand what happened so that we can go on to lead normal lives. (Please note that this is a group for child abuse survivors only. If you are a professional in the mental health...
As for the stress, well, I'd love to meet a parent who wasn't! LMAO!
even normal people when they have children should have to go through a foster training program, which is EXTENSIVE. like you get this baby on trial, if you do okay then you can keep the child if not, foster care will take your kid. a good parent would want the training an evil parent will say, just take it now. they already KNOW what they really are...though some will probably do it anyway because to them its all a game of what can they get away with. also emotional iq tests for parents would be a good idea as well.
parenting is a privilege, its not a "right." amazing how many don't know that.
It's unfair to lump "abusive" and "mental disorders" into the same category.
My mother was/is also mentally ill. She's a sociopath that is unable to empathize or feel responsibility for another person. I, too, am painfully aware of what it's like to be raised by people unfit to parent. Interestingly enough, my mother and her boyfriend managed to get a foster care license when I was a child and were paid by the state to care for foster children! They did it only to supplement their income and not to care for the children. In fact they often left all of us for days. My foster-brother once locked himself in a room and called his social worker and tried to tell her what was going on. The social worker told him that he was living with nice people and he should stop lying. Heavens. Once that happened I knew I was doomed. No one would ever believe us.
