A Child Abuse Survivors Group Community Group
We survived child abuse, but the pain still remains and so do the other effects which can last a lifetime. We are often unable to find adequate help, and we are seeking answers that can help us understand what happened so that we can go on to lead normal lives. (Please note that this is a group for child abuse survivors only. If you are a professional in the mental health...
I stepped into the school premises and walked around. Didn't go to the spot where I was raped, but not because I was afraid. I felt like I didn't have to. Felt like I had better things to do. My family and the abuse continued in the different house, the place where it first happened was just geography.
Seeing the house triggered the return of all those repressed memories. It was hard to deal with, but at least they didn't come back all at once. The only good memories that came back were of times when I was alone playing in the backyard or out riding my bike or fishing in a pond somewhere...always alone. I don't seem to have any good memories from then that involve people...just bad ones.
