A Child Abuse Survivors Group Community Group
We survived child abuse, but the pain still remains and so do the other effects which can last a lifetime. We are often unable to find adequate help, and we are seeking answers that can help us understand what happened so that we can go on to lead normal lives. (Please note that this is a group for child abuse survivors only. If you are a professional in the mental health...
I started off with a job, moved to different ones, some worse some better, then eventually got a career. I might move on to a new career soon if the circumstances are right. Change is always happening the trick is to land good change! I've had many friends, no friends, some friends. All I seek in my "real life" now are genuine friends even if that means I only have one. I've lived in poverty, not ideal circumstances, and later in comfort. I went most of my life without love, but the times I was shown it ( grandmother who lived far), saved my life. I have love for and from the family I have now created.
You already have what it takes to succeed Beaumont. We all know you're intelligent, thoughtful and dilligent. You've been successful at creating and maintaining some of the busiest groups here on DS! What is the biggest challenge? Fear? Opportunity? Some internal belief? Don't be afraid to show yourself to others in the "real world"! You have a lot to offer!
The biggest challenge I had to face was fear. And it was even harder because I felt it but didn't acknowledge it. I still feel fear every time I take on something I am not sure will go my way. It's this "internal battle" that dominates my mind and causes me to feel frozen and scared to act one way or the other. I wind up using a hundred times more energy just thinking and worrying about it than had I just taken action! I'm trying to change this by having more Faith.
Here is a suggestion for you: write your goals down and next to them write out what your intention is for having that goal. Then read these every morning and focus particularly on the intention associated with that goal. If you believe in God and/or a Higher Power, ask for help and guidance. Repeat this every day if possible. This is really important because this opens up the possibilities in reaching what you desire which you may get but in a totally unexpected way.
Beaumont, you are going to succeed! Believe it is possible!
