As a child, all I knew was hate. My parents hated me because I existed. My brothers and sisters hated me because they were following the example set by my parents. My parents fought all the time, and my brothers and sisters saw this and copied them. Children at school hated me because they knew what kind of people my parents were and because I was the child who wore the same clothes to school every day, who never bathed, and who always needed a haircut. I feared everyone because I never knew when I would be hit or otherwise punished just for existing. What I learned from this and what I still carry with me today and will carry with me for all my life is that people are to be feared because even the ones who seem normal may at any time become violent and hit me or accuse me of bad things that I am innocent of. I learned that I am and always will be the object of people's hate. I fear walking past people in public places because I know that people can hit me whenever they feel like it. The world is full of people who hate, and there doesn't seem to be any other kind.
