A Child Abuse Survivors Group Community Group
We survived child abuse, but the pain still remains and so do the other effects which can last a lifetime. We are often unable to find adequate help, and we are seeking answers that can help us understand what happened so that we can go on to lead normal lives. (Please note that this is a group for child abuse survivors only. If you are a professional in the mental health...
Now what? How may we help? The only thing I can think of is to re-engineer the thinking. Forget the American Dream for now, which takes prosperity to achieve. When people in the same circumstances come together, they can work together, and survive and after a period of time, therein lies the progressive community of hopes and dreams.
Let's toss this around, okay?
I don't know if my story'll help but: when I find that I'm overwhelmed by emotion, one of the things I've learned to do here is to listen to that part of me. IMO and experience, the emotion lasts because I don't listen to myself; I do and say to myself what I was programmed to do. Now I listen to me as me. If it's grief, depression, anger, happiness and so on, I'm present in that moment and give me what I need. I create a space for it (take a break at work, go to another room - a bathroom, brief walk and so on).
Hope it helps. Please continue to reach out. Do you have in person supports?
everyday I wake up and try to be normal -except I know I'll never be normal like( I was born that way.) and like
Angel Grace mentioned we all have Angels all around us. I sense them and find lots of comfort /with peace.
So do not give up Beaumont! we don't know what's in store for us in future. weird things happen sometimes! Like millionaire giving away a lot of money to the poor. Things happen ahead of schedule; it all jives together. He took you this far; GOD did not carry you this far ; just to drop you on your face. also GOD made you and people STRONGER than most. I see it as a Blessing. If you can do job search and life skills; keep the ball rollin' my friend. You do not know whats in store for you! ...You never know. Thanks for posting this.
EAN what you do and tell yourself; in that present moment, you give yourself space to go thru and feel your emotions.....etc. That takes a lot of patience. Good for you, EAN!
Years ago when I worked, my therapists called it a "reality check" ; where you even focus on a wall or some thing where you become aware of what is going on. I need to do this like every hour sometimes.

Hell,I know how this feels; I'm in a fix myself right now, given notice
to quit flat by 31st. and though I have to look at another, it is in a real dive
and I'm apprehensive about it--damned if do, and damned if I don't.
Catch 22. I am afraid Beau, afraid what will happen to me, but hell, I have
not suffered the agony of the abuse to give up now.
I try to give 'little Jim'
some comfort,a hug, some love. And I hang on to the God Force.
I will say a little prayer for you tonight--damn,we are the BEST PEOPLE!
Blessings To All,
jimindigo
I too will say a couple prayers for you both. For your protection and your safety.

Don't give up . . . I lived most of my life in poverty too until just a very few years ago . . .
