As a child I was abused in everyway imagineable. The scars are just now beginning to heal. I have emotional pain that is far worse than all the physical stuff that went on. I've been hospitalized dozens of times and currently take medication for the mental damage I sustained. I also see a therapist who has been working with me to help me change how I feel about my past. It was difficult at first dealing with the memories, but its getting better. I am also a God fearing man. I have forgiven my abusers. Now its time for me to move forward and stop dwelling in the past.

I hope you can find ways to heal...or at least cope with your wounds. I'm only now remembering a lot of what happened to me. I think it's better to remember so we can stop assuming that our problems are all our own fault.

People who systematically abuse the children in their care are deeply deranged criminals.

I too have survived horrendous childhood abuse. Like you, I have helped myself through this by seeing therapists, and taking meds. However, I don't know if I am ''dwelling'' on the past, when I have horrific panic attacks. This is called ''body memories'', and the past is something I do not think about too much . I am thinking about how to get past my mental illness, and to fit into society, and to get out of bed every morning, and to have a ''normal'' life. Not always so easy.. I can relate to you.
