I am not a church-goer, but I was recently invited to attend a Salvation Army Church here in California, following my work in December as a bell-ringer/kettle worker. The church leader who invited me told me that the Salvation Army Church does not do baptisms or communion during its church services. I plan to go at least once to find out what it's like.

I also plan to attend other churches until I find one that seems right. I am not one of those people who believe there is only one church and that all other churches are wrong. I am, however, uncomfortable attending Catholic Churches because they have gotten too far away from their old traditions and duties, such as confession and protecting their children from pedophile priests. There is a Presbyterian Church near where I live, as well as a Unitarian Universalist Church, and some others.

If you attend a church, what kind is it and what would you say about it?

as a child i went to a greek orthodox church i didn t understand a word because the surmon was in greek but i loved being there the feeling of love and acceptance and warmth thats what i remember when i look back the ladies would pinch my cheeks and tell me to eat eat you re too thin i wish they d say that now :) i want to go back but it isn t wheelchair friendly i have this fear of knocking over the stand where you put your lighted candle in if i used my walker

After going to several churches within walking distance of where I live, I finally found one that is suitable. It's a Lutheran church. I like it because it is very well lit inside (not dark like a dungeon as some churches are), and the people are very polite. I will return to visit this church again.

I always attended Baptist and Methodist churches as a child. As an adult I kind of moved around, have not gone to church regularly for many years.

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to attend a Jehovah Witness church with a friend of mine. She is deaf like me and goes to this church because they have ASL interpreting and the hearing people in this church are all learning to Sign. I enjoyed myself very much, their service is alot different from what I am used to, but I could see the point. And afterwards there was a potluck luncheon which was a great way to get to know everyone!

The women have to wear a DRESS, which kind of got me there for awhile but it gave me a reason to go shopping, and I will have to admit I felt like a lady when I had a dress on!

I plan to go to this church again soon. It is quite a ways from my home and requires an overnight stay with my lady friend, but I don't mind that too much as long as the traffic is not fierce!
