A Capable Disabled Group is a mutual support group for persons who are disabled, handicapped, differently abled, or have other conditions, along with our friends and caregivers. We discuss what matters to us, learn from each other, and strive to improve our lives.

What can we aspire to? What can we reach for? How far can we go?

Let's shine a spotlight on persons with disabilities who are going beyond their disabilities. Please let us know of people you know of who are doing something that lets people know what the disabled are capable of. And if you are one of the bright shining stars yourself, then go ahead and brag a little - or a lot!

My boyfriend Ace wrote the music and lyrics. He wrote all this using only one finger on his computer . He has ALS and is selling the CDs to leave a musically legacy behind.
I think it is great and should be checker out.

Right now one person who is a MAJOR inspiration is Michael J Fox...right now I am reading his book "Looking Up: The Adventures of an Incurable Optimist" and highly recommend it!

I have 2 friends who sold everythink in England to go and live in South Africa.They are reaching out to peaple with Aids and HIV.Trish has very bad joint problems and some times its hard for her to walk as it effects her feet a lot,her hubby Brian is 66 she is 56.They never let there disablities affect them and I find them such an insparation.

I have a friend(who is also disabled) who has started a fund for the victims in DarFur where I live and through him and others, there are over 95,000 people in Darfur who have been helped. I also look at us who are living with our disabilities and injuries. We are and can be an example to the world around us too. Thank you for the topic.

You are so right about this Sacroadie. Many times I am inspired by the others around me, and their strong will to keep going when things get tough.
I think we all have many talents within ourselves to share with others. We ourselves are unique I think.
