A Capable Disabled Group Community Group
We would be delighted to have you join our group. A Capable Disabled Group is a mutual support group for persons who are disabled, handicapped, differently abled, or have other conditions, along with our friends and caregivers. We discuss what matters to us, learn from each other, and strive to improve our lives.
I would like all of you to help create a flyer to promote the Able Disabled Group.
Each flyer will be 5.5" x 8.5", so that two flyers can be printed on a standard 8.5" x 11" sheet of paper, to keep printing costs low.
Because I don't have my own computer yet, I use public library computers, so the only restriction on the flyer is that it will have to consist of text (letters) only, and no pictures or images. However, I will be able to use different fonts (letter styles) and letter sizes up to 1" high, plus bold, italic, and underline. I will try to put a plain straight-line border around the edge of the flyer to give it a more finished look. The first copies of the flyers will be printed on public library printers, and then taken to a print shop to have lower-cost photopies made.
I intend to carry flyers with me when I run errands. I see many disabled people at bus stops and on busses and trolleys. I can hand out the flyers to these people, plus post flyers on bulletin boards around town, for instance, in laundromats, government buildings, community centers, and on community college campuses.
If this idea doesn't work out, no harm done. I can try other ways of promoting the group, and all I will have lost is a few of my own dollars, hopefully. But if the idea does bring new members and other interested persons to the group, I will continue it. I will begin putting out flyers in January.
So far, I am thinking of putting the one-word phrase, "DISABLED?" across the top of the flyer in bold type one inch high.

This is just the wording. Some of the lines, of course, will be centered, and the letters will be larger to make them easy to read from several feet away. The finished flyer may also have a border around the edges, if spacing allows.
