A Capable Disabled Group Community Group
We would be delighted to have you join our group. A Capable Disabled Group is a mutual support group for persons who are disabled, handicapped, differently abled, or have other conditions, along with our friends and caregivers. We discuss what matters to us, learn from each other, and strive to improve our lives.
First, the paid training you can receive from Goodwill Industries usually lasts for only up to six months, but the pay you receive during that time will not effect your Social Security benefits.
Second, while in the training program, you may receive discounts on purchases of clothing and household items from Goodwill Thrift Stores. Need clothes for job interviews, school, or everyday living? Well, now you have a possible answer.
Third, your training wages will qualify you for the Earned Income Tax Credit, meaning that even if you don't earn enough in the training program to be required to pay state and federal income tax, you will still be able to file the IRS EIC form and receive a check or direct deposit amount of roughly $500 or more just because you worked in the Goodwill Industries job training program.
Fourth, you get to meet a lot of people, not just employees of Goodwill, but customers and teachers and employment recruiters who will come in to seek employees for their companies - yes, maybe even you.
There are other benefits as well. Contact Goodwill Industries for further information. ;-)
