We would be delighted to have you join our group. A Capable Disabled Group is a mutual support group for persons who are disabled, handicapped, differently abled, or have other conditions, along with our friends and caregivers. We discuss what matters to us, learn from each other, and strive to improve our lives.
He cannot raise his arms above his shoulders. He cannot type emails or use a computer without the assistance of another person who types for him (speech-to-text software is as yet not equal to the task). Depending on your point of view, he is either handicapped or disabled - or differently enabled.
Does this disqualify him from being the next U.S. President? Before you answer this question, consider the following.
Do we really need another handicapped U.S. President? Another is right. We have had previous Presidents with imperfections. And in spite of it, or because of it, or regardless of it, the United States of America continues as the greatest nation on God's green Earth.
Stricken with polio, Franklin Delano Roosevelt made Presidential speeches from a seated position behind a waist-high curtain on a speakers platform (stage). Then as now, image was important for someone in his position, and it was felt necessary to de-emphasize his dependence on a wheelchair. (He sometimes also used a walking cane to remain standing.) He could not stand unassisted, and a low curtain hid his disability. Do you recall from history class what contributions he made to our democracy?
George Washington relied on an assistive device. People today may joke about this early President going to a carpenter to have dental work done, but his wooden false teeth were a very serious necessity in an era of short-lived old age. In his day, once a person could no longer chew their own food, their demise followed shortly (unless they had someone who cared for them enough to chew their for food them).
John McCain on his own at a computer is clearly a disabled person. John McCain with an assistant at a computer is a "differently enabled" or "differently abled" person.
Do you think that a differently enabled John McCain is worthy of the title "President of the United States of America" or "Leader of the Free World" or "The Most Powerful Person on Earth"? What if he were called disabled or handicapped? Imperfect? Physically challenged?

I can't say I agree with the DUI/DWI. In our state the limit is so low you can get a DUI with only drinking a couple drinks. Basically you can't drink at all and drive here. I can see repeated espisodes reflecting a bad pattern with drinking.
