UL Warns Consumers About Potentially Hazardous Pressure Washers.

NORTHBROOK, Ill. -- Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL) isnotifying consumers and merchandisers that pressure washers manufacturedin China may present a shock hazard. UL's evaluation of productsamples reveals that the pressure washers have a cord-connected groundfault circuit interrupter (GFCI) that does not provide shock protectionfor the user. The pressure washers do not meet UL's Standards forSafety and are not authorized to bear the UL Mark.The pressure washer is distributed by MCM International and can be
identified as Black Cat Model BC2000 or TW1750 High Pressure Cleaning
Machines. The product is advertised for use in cleaning windows, patios,
decks, cars and boats. The following label markings appear on the
pressure washer: "MODEL BC2000 or TW1750 HIGH PRESSURE CLEANING
MACHINES STORE INDOORS

MCM INTERNATIONAL 1-800-304-1316 MADE IN CHINA."
Menards and Target have sold the pressure washer, but other
retailers may also carry the product. UL encourages consumers to
immediately discontinue use of the pressure washer and contact MCM
