There is also plenty of participatory winter fun for everyone such as ice skating, riding snow rafts down icy slopes, ice fishing, hot tubbing, dog sledding or being a part of a giant human foosball game. The beautiful Old City of Quebec, built in 1608, was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985 and remains a fascinating place for both adults and children. Notwithstanding the frigid temperatures, the city hums along just fine during Carnival. More:

Officials with Toronto Hydro and Hydro One, which serves many smaller and rural communities in Ontario, say it would be irresponsible of them to promise to have everyone reconnected by Christmas Day. Environment Canada is warning that a mass of arctic air moving into southern Ontario means the incidence of snapping branches has not ended. aThe ice storm left anywhere from 10 to 30 millimetres of ice on surfaces and trees. Moderate northwesterly winds of 20 kilometres per hour have developed. The impacts from the ice storm may be continued from these winds due to ice covered tree branches falling,a said the weather service. Hydro One CEO Carmine Marcello says the ice storm may be over but the situation remains precarious for work crews because of the heavy ice buildup on trees. Hydro One cancelled vacations for about 300 employees and has about 900 workers out trying to reconnect downed lines. More:
