Similar Ground for Caregiving

Hello one and all! It is my distinct honor and advantage to post my first article on this blog site. I am delighted by the invite to publish routinely. In subsequent reflections, I will share stories and insights originated from my individual and professional experiences as a caregiver. Essentially, I am by nature, support, and need a caregiver. And considering that you are reading this blog site, I think I am safe to assume you have an interest in caregiving also. Consequently, this is the commonalities on which we stand. The basis for future discussions.
My interest for providing beneficial details to caregivers and care receivers is rooted in the defining minutes of my life. When I was 15 years of ages, my life altered permanently. My mother was detected with incurable breast cancer. Over the next 8 years, I acted as among her main caregivers-- experiencing the blessings and the concerns of that intimidating journey. A decade later on, I shared in the care of my papa who suffered a stroke and ultimately died of terminal cancer. I also companioned my godmother who developed vascular dementia in the last years of her life. Each time I was called to care, I felt ill-prepared and ill-informed. Reactive instead of proactive. Everything seemed beyond my control regardless of my best efforts and intentions. Sound familiar?
In the years following my personal experiences as a caregiver, my expert life unfolded in fantastic and unforeseen methods. I never ever in my wildest dreams thought of dealing with families challenged by terminal ailment. That was a story I did pass by to review. Nevertheless, as it ends up, that is precisely what I needed to do. It is what I am called to do. As you will certainly find out in future postings, I worked in hospice and palliative care for many years, serving as a chaplain and community educator for a hospice in Denver, Colorado. Today, I work as an academic consultant. I speak and compose about the concerns related to aging, ailment, and end-of-life care. My preliminary experiences as a caregiver notify every program I present and every short article I compose. As an expert in the field, I am well versed in concepts, designs, research study, and foundational teachings relevant to caregiving. Nevertheless, understanding the experience of caregiving from the in out is my catalyst to serve caregivers and care receivers.
My goal in composing is simple yet considerable. By sharing stories, I wish to educate, enlighten, and inspire you. I am a company believer that understanding is power. I will certainly encourage you to be proactive instead of responsive-- prepare to care. Collect the required details to make educated decisions and develop an initial strategy of care. I will enlighten you about the difficulties in addition to the chances afforded by giving and getting care. And, I will motivate you to engage the trip of caregiving in life-giving, innovative methods.
I anticipate the continuous conversation. If you have specific questions or concerns associated with your caregiving experience, I would enjoy to hear from you. Till the next publishing, I desire you and yours numerous true blessings.
