Registration opens for Texans' Running of the Bulls run

Hall of Famer Anthony Munoz high on Texans' future

And if the Texans get Foster going early -- he has given the Ravens problems in the past -- and get off to an early lead, they are tough to beat. Recent history: The Ravens won their first six meetings against the Texans, including a divisional-round win at M&T Bank Stadium in the 2011 playoffs. But the Texans got off that schneid in a big way last October, beating the Ravens, 43-13. That game quickly snowballed for the Ravens, who were down by three scores before they could blink. That loss and its fallout ended up being a turning point of sorts for the Ravens, though. Degree of difficulty: The Ravens may still be trying to jell on defense -- they will have a lot of new faces and all -- when Reed and the Texans come to town in Week 3, but since the game is at M&T Bank Stadium, the Ravens will likely be favored to win.

What are realistic projections for Texans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins?

Theyre grown-up. Theyre veteran players now. They understand the opportunity they have and I think theyre taking advantage of it right now. Kubiak has also praised Martin as being among the most improved players in training camp along with Jean. The Texans also took a receiver in the third round last year, Posey, who tore his Achilles in the divisional-round playoff loss to the New England Patriots . Posey may start the season on the physically unable to perform list, leaving the battle for the No. 2 and No. 3 receiving spots to Hopkins, Jean and Martin for now. (WR) Keshawn (Martin), hes a good player, so are the other guys out here, even the rookies, said Hopkins, via the team website. They all make you step up your game once youre out there on the field. Its extremely likely that targets past the No. 2 receiver spot will be scarce, as the Texans ran the fewest three-wide sets in the NFL last year according to Rotoworlds Mike Clay.

Houston Texans Newswire: Two Texans Crack The NFL Network's Top Ten

Several said the Ector County school district is on a good path and that a change in leadership could derail those efforts. "Dr. Sanchez is, bottom line, what's best for kids," one speaker said. But some board and community members in Odessa said they would prefer to conduct a national search. After the testimony, board trustee Nelson Minyard requested another meeting with the intention to name Sanchez the lone finalist. No vote was taken.

To give opportunities to the future, Kevin Walter is gone. The safety and comfort of a guy who knows what to do has been jettisoned for upside, development and the future. The Walter numbers are a guide to the #2 WR position in the Texans offense. You would hope a first-round wide receiver draft pick could do better than that. At least eventually. Will note, if the Texans defense has another good year, this may bring the gross passing numbers down some because they wont be throwing from behind like they were during Walters best years. The catch rate is expected to be high however. I think Hopkins fits very well in this offense . And I think that Hopkins has looked very good in offseason OTAs/minicamp. Hes playing with the first team, has first team expectations.

Texans set meeting on keeping Sanchez

Denver turned the ensuing free kick into a field goal for a 5-0 first quarter lead. Houston responded with 21 unanswered points. The first came on a 60-yard touchdown pass from Matt Schaub to Andre Johnson . This would prove to be the first of four touchdown passes thrown by Schaub. The Broncos added two Matt Prater field goals to trail by 10 (21-11) at the end of the first half. The Texans added 10 points in the third quarter for a 31-11 lead. Manning, however, battled back with touchdown passes to Brandon Stokley and Joel Dreessen to bring the Broncos to within a touchdown at 31-25 with 3:00 left in the game. Unfortunately, Denver was unable to keep the Texans from burning almost two-and-one-half minutes off the clock before punting.

They had to remove most of my jaw on my left side," Kelly said. "It's very, very sore, but it takes time. I know when you have knee surgery or shoulder surgery it's sore for a small period of time and rehab and everything is good and you just take your time." ***** CSI: North Attleboro. Over the weekend, Massachusetts State Police searched New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez's home for evidence. The State Police have turned their attention to the waters around the tight end's house. Hernandez appears to have destroyed evidence that would have aided the Odin Lloyd homicide investigation, and he's still a suspect in the case. Returning our focus back to football...what then happens to the Patriots if they are without Hernandez and Gronkowski for an unknown amount of time?

On Foster and the Texans' outside zone

When executed properly, it opens massive creases. The Texans have to do a better job of cutting, and Foster has to make teams fear the back-side lanes once again. The Texans have to do a better job of keeping the LBs on the second level rather than letting them take liberties with the run game at the point of attack. In 2010 and 2011, Foster averaged 4.7 yards a carry. In 2012 it was 4.1. Thats not an insignificant drop. Over the course of 319 carries -- Fosters average in his three seasons as the starter -- its a difference of 191.4 yards over the season. Im not as concerned about Fosters workload as a lot of other people.
