Rams' Stedman Bailey Shot Twice In Head, In Critical Condition

St. Louis Rams wide receiver Stedman Bailey is in critical-but-stable condition in a Florida hospital after being shot in the head by an unknown shooter.Bailey was sitting in a car with family in Miami Gardens, Fla., Tuesday night when someone pulled up and started shooting, according to NFL.com. Bailey, a Florida native, was shot twice in the head.Baileys cousin, who was driving, was shot multiple times while attempting to protect children in the car from the shooter, according to ESPN. His injuries are life-threatening.Bailey, who is 25 years old, will undergo surgery Wednesday morning, according to ESPN.The Rams released this brief statement about Baileys condition: We are aware Stedman Bailey was involved in an incident this evening. We have spoken with Stedman and he is in the hospital in critical, but stable, condition. We are gathering facts about the situation and will provide updates as we learn more.Update, 9 a.m.: Police in Miami Gardens, where Bailey was shot, released a statement saying it is investigating the shooting, which happened around 8:45 p.m. The City of Miami Gardens Police Department says Bailey was in the car with the driver and three additional passengers, two of whom were minors. The other passengers did not sustain injuries. End of update.The NFL issued Bailey a four-game suspension earlier this month for violating its substance abuse policy.
