Preparing the Kanchipuram Silk Sarees

These sarees are handmade woven from pure mulberry silk threads. The native productions of Kanchipuram are one for manufacturing the sarees not for raw resources. The main raw materials that go into Kanchipuram Sarees are – mulberry silk threads, metallic threads (Zari) and dyes.

There are three parts in Kanjivaram Sarees– border, body and pallu. Three shuttles i.e. three single filaments of silk yarn and zari are castoff to weave the Kanjivaram Sarees. One more unique thing about these sarees is that the design of border and body are typically quite different but are in difference.  In case, the shadow of the pallu is dissimilar from boundary and body, it is woven distinctly and then prudently devoted to the saree.
