Muslims have two major festivities in the year. Equally are called Eid (meaning celebration). Eid Al-Fitr or the "Celebration of Damaging the Fast" marks the end of Ramadan. Eid Al-Fitr is the celebration that comes at the end of Ramadan. Ramadan is a month of fasting, every day from dawn until sun. Before Eid is called Chand Raat, or evening of the moon. Persons visit bazaars and shopping malls with their households and children for previous occasions Eid shopping. Girls, especially young girls often paint each others' hands with traditional "henna" also called "mehendi" and wear colorful bangles.

When needed of the celebration, an average Muslim family is alert very early and then after praying the first normal everyday prayer, takes in a tiny quantity comprising the final of Ramadan. That they then attend special group prayers held only for this occasion in mosques, in large open areas, stadiums or arenas.
