Bed Bugs - How Do They See?

Although bed bugs love feeding on human blood they don't have eyes that see like human beings. These parasitic creatures have what is referred to as a compound eye structure. It's believed that they do not see in color, that they visualize in white and black.
A mattress bugs eye is composed of hundreds of eye lenses called facets that fit together in a hexagon structure. A simple way to envision what this insects eye resembles is to think of a bee honey in a conical form rather than flat. It is similar to a soccer ball, but on a smaller, more intricate level. The individual aspects consist of two lenses, one on the surface and one on the interior. The bed bugs double lens eye arrangement allows it to see in 3-D. All of these facets fitted collectively assemble the parasites eye. These facets are connected to tubes that concentrate light down a fundamental arrangement called the rhabdome. The rhabdome is light sensitive and directs the information through an optic nerve into the bugs brain.
Each individual aspect in the bed bugs eye sends another image to it's mind. When these pictures are processed and gather a mosaic is created. This 3-D mosaic is the way the mattress bug can see it is human host. It is not known if, as the mattress bug goes, the picture it sees updates onto a whole or takes micro-seconds for every lens to upgrade the visual info. When this parasitic insect's eyesight updates lens then it would observe a continuously updating picture.
Bed bugs come out at night or at the dark to feed their individual hosts for a few reasons. Another reason is that these blood suckers have light sensitive eyes which enable them to see much better in the dark. These chemical eyes can also pick up a heat touch of the human body. This is why the majority of bed bug bites occur on the center of mass part of your body. bed bug heat treatment is warmer in your torso, legs, and arms than it's on your palms and toes.
Humans may have colour vision that updates constantly in which bed bugs compound eyes see in white and black. Their eyes also do not always update the full image simultaneously, but they can see quite well to do the job they are best at. That job is to find a human host in which to feed off of their blood.
