A Physician's State Of Union's Medical Message

Physician outcry on EHR functionality, cost will shake the health information technology sector

It is totally about health care insurance reform, or attacking the insurance industry. Those who wrote this abomination of a legislation, without the input of physicians or anyone from the medical community, decided it knew best what kind of insurance Americans should have. Before this monstrosity, Americans had a choice of many levels of insurance. Indeed, they should have been able to cross state lines in order to take advantage of other insurance companies thereby creating more competition and subsequent lower rates. Health savings accounts were never touted and advertised, but some took advantage of these. But horrors of horrors there were 18 million people uninsured, so the government just HAD to cover them. A 2700 page bill was written within a short period of time, right? Not really, it was written a long time ago awaiting the perfect time to be rolled out. It was dressed up, and our distinguished Congress voted for it without reading a page. No one, for sure, knows what is still in it today, but Americans are learning that Obama and our government officials have pulled one of the greatest injustices on Americans, even bigger than the billions of dollars wasted on global warming. As Mr. Bryant has so brilliantly written, Obamacare is a disaster for Americans. visit homepage http://www.dailyprogress.com/starexponent/opinion/columnists/a-physician-s-state-of-union-s-medical-message/article_f3de622a-93c8-11e3-a85d-0017a43b2370.html

Deaf medical resident on path to becoming amazing physician (with video)

With four years to go, Dunkley plans to get into the public health side of medicine once sheas finished her residency. aIam really interested in educating related to health for the deaf community because they lack access to that information,a she said. Thatas because much medical information is not available in sign language. Itas also easier to communicate directly than through an interpreter. aIam really interested in providing that access to them,a she said. Dunkley has the ability to speak and can read lips. She is fluent in American Sign Language and Quebec Sign Language. When sheas with patients, Dunkley uses a sign language interpreter. This is because while she does have a hearing aid, any background noise makes it difficult to pick up some of the details in a conversation. aA lot of people have never worked with a resident who uses a sign language interpreter, so itas not really a challenge, itas just a new environment,a she said. Dunkley was born deaf into a deaf family in Toronto and raised in Vancouver. visit this site right here http://www.edmontonjournal.com/news/edmonton/Deaf+medical+resident+path+becoming+amazing+physician/9496393/story.html

Following up on this, I came across and registered for a webinar on Healthcare IT: Role of EDI in Affordable Care Act Reforms, it looks a promising one http://j.mp/1b4qJC3 Feb 12, 2014 Login or register to post comments Dr. alan shiener It has ruined my life also because I am compulsively trying to do it right and accurately. It forces me and others to retire early in 1 year instead of 5. Feb 11, 2014 Login or register to post comments Anonymous Big shocker right?! The healthcare.gov rollout is the perfect model for how related policy decisions have been implemented (botched), decisions on vendors(handouts, nepotism, cronyism), who gets what and why. In other words, meaningful use isn't about innovation or improvement. It's a way to turn the tables on who has their hands, really has their hands in the healthcare pot. Remember at 20% of GDP there is ton of money flowing through the veins (so why not reroute more of the pipeline through the district) and the more problems one creates the more solutions can be procured. Get it? Gotta love whopper size GOVT. I'm not a Doctor btw, yet I've seen how "the electricians" wire up the establishment and sickened by how the large government "fad" has devoured the virtuous intentions of the "sheeople" who graze with their heads down. official website http://medicaleconomics.modernmedicine.com/medical-economics/news/physician-outcry-ehr-functionality-cost-will-shake-health-information-technol?page=0%2C1
