Hi guys and gals!
Another Sunday is upon us... I don't know about you guys, but this one couldn't come soon enough for me, but that's mainly because last night several neighbors in my community decided to not be very neighborly because they felt the need to celebrate Independence Day in the most obnoxious way possible by setting off fireworks for nearly 3 hours straight (I kept thinking that they had to run out of them some time, and every so often I'd hear the group closest to my house that were setting them off - literally in the middle of the road - they'd cheer and hoot and holler like they were done only to start setting off a bunch more. I kept thinking it was going to end with a fire truck or ambulance being called because those things they were setting off were spitting and firing everywhere and I thought for sure a tree was going to catch fire or someone was going to get burned (my stupid neighbors were letting their kids light some of these things). And what really was getting me annoyed, beyond the fireworks going on and on till 11pm, was the fact that so many people in the neighborhood had large gatherings and people were clearly not social distancing or wearing masks (that I could see) and more and more people would drive over and park their cars around my house to go look at what the neighbors down the road were setting off and it was loud and my poor dog was upset (fireworks don't really bother him, it's the ones that have the high-pitched squeal and pop noises that he freaks out over and the noise of the people - mainly kids - that was upsetting him and woke him up). I will not be surprised if Covid cases go up in my area and state again because people just didn't bother to follow any sort of safety protocol this weekend...
I hope for those who did celebrate Independence Day yesterday or had anything else to celebrate during the week were able to do so in both a happy and safe way. Especially when it comes to those of us in the US and the way Covid-19 is still raging here, now isn't the time for us to let down our guard and forget to wear masks and wash our hands and the whole nine!
So, what else is up with you? Got anything going on you want to share? Just want to bemoan the unbearable heat or whatever other weather pattern is circulating in your region? (It's unbearably hot here in New York. We're likely going to hit the 90s every day this coming week and it's been so humid. We had a deluge of rain the other day and it still didn't put a dent in the drought we're experiencing). Just want to talk about what you did for the holiday or the handling the ongoing pandemic in your region or whether you finally were able to get a haircut or do anything else for the first time in a while (or perhaps can't do again, if your region is closing things again)? It is all good with u, we just love to hear from you!
As always, I hope this finds you and yours in good spirits and Covid-19-free and please be sure to put on a mask when you're in public spaces - remember, the life you save may be your own... but it could also be your parents, grandparents, friends, significant others, co-workers, kids - and I think you get the point. We're all in this together!
Hugs all around,
