Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day." (2 Corinthians 4:16, NIV)
As we get older our bodies begin to break down. We lose our eye site, it becomes harder to walk, our minds begin to slip a little. However, our spirits should continue to grow as we renew our lives in Christ daily.
Paul said that he renews his life daily. I think that should be our goal, to renew our lives on a daily basis. It kind of reminds me of an old car that you want to restore. It needs a lot of work inside and out.
The best body and fender man and the best mechanic is what you need to help you so you make some calls and find out how expensive they are. Then you make one more call and the guy who owns the shop answers the phone, but in your frustration you do not hear his name.
When you tell him of the car and all of the details he tells you it has all been paid for already. You begin to wonder by who, you ask? The guy says by my son. He proceeds to tell you that his son has paid the price in full and whatever needs done is already
taken care of.
You think... WOW and he didn't even know what it costs. So you ask, How can I repay him? The man on the other side of the line gets quiet, then with love in his voice that will penetrate your every being he says. "Give me your heart and life and live for me and that will be all I want." As you ponder on that for awhile you think that is a lot to ask. Then the voice says Millions have already done this and the only way to get to my Father is through me. (John 14:6)
You then realize that this is Jesus you are talking to and with arms outstretched you thank him for the gift of life and that you know by putting your faith and trust in him all will now be okay.
I know this little story is not spiritually correct in all places. However, that is how God works. He takes our broken down rusty and decrepit lives and remakes them anew.
Prayer: Thank you Lord for remaking our lives and for taking the time for us that is needed. Also Lord thank you for paying the price to fix our lives anew. In Jesus name. AMEN...
