Turn your ear to me, come quickly to my rescue; be my rock of refuge, a strong fortress to save me. Since you are my rock and my fortress, for the sake of your name lead and guide me. Free me from the trap that is set for me, for you are my refuge. (Psalm 31: 2 NIV)
The life of chronic challenges is not an easy one.
Sometimes I think we hesitate to come to God. After all, this is the God of the universe. Why would He be concerned with us?
I look to the words of David:
"Turn your ear to me."
David was intimate enough with God that He could say, "God â I need you to hear me."
He then says, "Come quickly to my rescue."
His relationship with God was such that he could not only say, "I need you to hear me." He could boldly state, "I need you to near me and hear me NOW."
David viewed God confidently. He did not know what form his deliverance would take. Yet, he new that God would rescue him. His God was His source of safety.
How do you approach God today? Do you come boldly, confidently before His throne of mercy and grace. Do you know that he will hear you? (He will!) Are you willing to trust Him, no matter what the immediate outcome? Have you come to the place where you can call out "God, I need you and I need you now! Nothing else can help me. You are the only refuge I have. You are my fortress. You are my rock. I need You and You alone."
Prayer: Father God, How amazing it is that we can call out to you, confident that you will listen, confident that you are our rock of safety. I ask for each reader today, Lord, that you will come quickly, hide and shelter them. I thank you that no matter what our lives may bring â You are always there. Come quickly, Lord. Amen.
