"The rest were to get there on planks or on pieces
of the ship. In this way everyone reached land in
safety." (Acts 27:44 NIV)
Let us examine our lives for a minute. What do we
see? Is our life a good one or one that has many
different pieces in it as if they were broken off and
we grabbed on to keep from drowning?
Paul the apostle was being taken to prison and was
in shackles when he was involved in a boat that had
run aground. They tried everything to get it loose but
were not able to and the ship began to run aground.
As it did so Paul and the other prisoners grabbed
pieces of the ship and swam to shore. Then upon
getting to shore he had a serpent bite him and should
have died from that. Paul was undoubtedly the most
tried of the apostles but God delivered him from them
Many of us are like this. We have parts of our lives that
are broken off of another part and we need to get safely
We have to grab hold of the safety of the floating pieces
and paddle to shore in the protection of the Lord. He will
be there to dry us off and to take us and give us safety and
I remember when I was a child I did something foolish and
played like I was blind while I was riding my bike. Well
needless to say I ran into the side of a building and cut my
hand pretty bad. My house was not too far away so I went home
and my Mom was there, and even though it was foolish she
bandaged me up and dried my tears.
That is kind of like the Lord. When we fall he takes us into his arms
and brushes us off, dries our tears and helps us back on our way by
putting us on the right path.
Is your life broken pieces? Take those hurts, and everything and
give them to God and let him take you into his side and make you
safe and warm.
Father we ask that you help us get our broken pieces to the
shore and to comfort us and dry our tears. Thank you Lord for your
love, guidance and Mercy.
