Today is a rough day for me at work and I miss having Donna to talk to about these things. I am a manager of a utility company that supplies water and sewer service to about 8,000 people here and I have an office staff of 3 women besides myself and 8 workers in the field. Today I have to call one of the women in the office in on the carpet. She and the other 2 women have been a great support for me since my wife died nearly a year ago. The problem is that she has been helping me out with the company's accounting and she has gotten to the point where she thinks that she is in charge of the office staff and had went to the Board President to get his blessing to make her the manager while I am on vacation. This really bothered me that she went behind my back to the President without telling me. He told me. She is constantly belittling the other workers for not doing their jobs the way she would. I have tried explaining to her that this is unacceptable but she has continued on. Today I am going to do a formal writeup on her and give it to her and hopefully she will get the idea. She can't be the manager while I am gone because she has no practical field experience at all and you have to know that in order to run the system properly. I am not looking forward to this but she is dramatically effecting everyones performance now and making enemies out of friends. If Donna were here she would tell me what she thinks and that would help but she is not and I have to go it alone. I sure miss being able to talk to her and get her pointers on these matters. Well, enough complaining for one day I guess. Just wanted to throw this out there to get it off my chest. If I drank I could take care of the problem pretty quick but I guess coffee will have to do for now.

It has been a long time since I have visited this group. 10 years ago this group was my life saver. Today on another site there was a question asking what words of encouragement brought you comfort. My reply was that in reality there are no words, nothing anyone would say or do brought real comfort. Grief is something you must go through. Tired of burdening my family with the grief in...
I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
