Just a light-hearted post, some musings, spinning off loveandgrace's post about worry.
Being an overgrown flowerchild who visited and stayed at a commune from time to time back in the day, I got to thinking this wasn't a bad idea. Everyone had their own quarters on the same parcel of land and helped each other. They were pretty much self-sufficient. They even home schooled their kids. Now of course, we won't have THIS to worry about now.
So OK, we're all up there in age. Many are self-sufficient and set for life. Many more aren't. Some have only their SS to live on. Now, I don't want to live in the boonies anymore....I like conveniences and I'm not strong enough to plow. In New Orleans, I knew a woman who bought a 40,000 square foot (abandoned) orphanage and turned it into a private home. There were suites for all her out of town family members. friends, guests...big suites. Every amenity. It was gorgeous and we deserve the same. So, here's my list of musts.....add your own. Remember, there are so many of us that cash is not a problem. ;-)
1) Luxury apartment. in a huge repurposed structure (a castle would be nic)
2) Elevators
3) Warm weather
4) Lush courtyards/gardens
5) Heart of the city.....convenient to everything
6) Optional maid service (at your own personal cost)
7) Several guests suites
8) PEOPLE!
9) ...............your turn............muse away

Hi All,As per my other post, please say 'hi' and introduce yourself so that we know you're here/still here and should be here.I am Martha/Cliffskat, widowed in 2007 when my husband Cliff died of a heart attack at only 55. With no warning, my life was turned upside down, and I became a single mom to our two autistic spectrum boys. It wasn't easy, but I survived. I met a British widower here,...

I gave my 2 week notice last Friday 13th. Now to join you fine people in a life of leisure and nothing else to do but to look out for myself....is it just me or does that sound pretty boring? My goal was to live to retire and I guess having to take early retirement because of health reasons wasn't exactly the way I had planned things. I just can't stay in that building that is reeking mildew...

Large acreage with it for us country folks where we get lost in nature if we wish complete with a pond with ducks and plenty of fish.
This is fun, thinking up dreams, wishes, etc. Hope we don't come across too distrubed to people, but what the heck, we deserve it!
I think what we all crave, is companionship. This would be a great way, to have people that "get" us, to hang out with.

Any investors?
Oh, and could we include pool tables in the rec room with a working fireplace at one end? I love the coziness of a fire on those chilly evenings. OK, I'm done, ya'll can take it from here. TJ
