I agree. Cried over cherry pies today, at the grocery. He loved Cherry pies. The little things that remind us of what we have lost. My thoughts are with you . Keep Warm during the storm.

I live in upstate NY. Snow days are real here. They were our family days; school closed, no appointments to keep. Snow days were good days roasting hotdogs in the fire place, getting the kids out in the snow, and just getting out of the daily routine. If school closing was announced the night before, it was like an extra weekend. Things are not the same now. There is no fun here anymore.

I feel sorry for the woman. I don't know her circumstance. Perhaps he's ill or something. But if he's just sitting at home, waiting for his snacks. Well, that to me is a sign of how he really feels about her.

We haven't really had a snow day here in Illinois, but I too would love to spend an afternoon with my husband. Guess I'll have to wait for that.

He could even be at work.

One of my friends husband left today for the South..not sure where..but he works for the local electric company and they are sending trucks on down.

Of course, we may need them back soon!

Our area has a devasting major ice storm two years ago. no power for almost a week. Stock up on things you can grill outside...have some old pans to even coook in on a gas grill..and make sure the gas grill is full! You can sit milk, etc in a cooler outside to keep it cold. Get canned tuna, and crackers and thigns like that..and water! And TP. We had neigbors who learned that they c ould melt ice/snow and use it to slush the toilet! We had a generator but it does not run the entire house! Luckily, we also had a wood burning fireplace.

I think we will get to school (I teach) tomorrow but after that...it's looking like a no go for the next week or even more!

Ron - it was your last sentence that got me. "I guess I shouldn't let things like this bother me..." Why not? It's ONLY been 14 months. I'm sitting here at 24 months and the WTF moments are floating around my head. As for the lady behind you, I hope you refrained from smacking her with your freetos. Hugs, marsha

The support and uplifting aside, What I find so special in DS is that we all understand what it was like to have a spouse that really cared. Most any other situation I am in...... people look at me as though I am crazy when I add into a conversation things like My husband would help me with many of the house chores, cook (and he was a good cook), never let me go out alone in the dark or in bad weather. In here it all seems so normal, again. I just did'nt know that the price for having such a good man, would be loseing him so soon. I guess the best we can offer in here, Hooksr is that you, are not alone. And a Huggggggg, of course. Molly

Ron, I wanted to add......Sorry that you lost your best friend and wife. No other loss compares. How long has it been? It's funny the things you notice afterwards. Two mos. after my husband passed, a close friend of mine at work......Always happy and smiling and no one would have guessed........ went outside at lunch time and committed suicide by pouring gas on himself and lighting it. I remember; even tho I liked him so much; thinking how dare you.....If only my husband would have had a choice!! What a cost for growth, we pay.

Our snow hasn't started yet. It's to start coming in a few hours. They were saying 5-8 inches. We are in a winter weather advisory until 6am Tuesday. I'm hoping the schools will be closed tomorrow so I can spend the day with my grandkids. It was 3yrs December 21 that I lost my husband. I miss Dean very much. He too was the one to make those snowy road runs or we would go together. Today as I was watching the weather I was thinking of the sledding we use to do. The snowmen that were built and the chili my husband use to make. I wish I had a bowl of it right now.
The holidays were and are really hard for me. Dean and I always had the family dinners at our house. Our house wasn't very big. We made room because anyone and everyone was invited. Dean and I would both cook the entire meals. We had more food than we could all eat. Food would get sent home with everyone. Dean use to make pies from scratch. We would also grill summer or winter we didn't care. We had such a good time. I miss him. I miss our dinners, our time together. 2006 was our last. I'm sorry to have kept babbling on. Molly I hadn't thought it but you are so right. I think that is why we are all here and miserable in day to day life. We had wonderful caring people in our life.. I know some feel sorry for me because I lost my love early in life.. But I feel I was blessed to have that kind of fairy tale love story message. I feel sorry for those that have their husband still but no love there.

Theresa....babble away my friend! That's why we're all here. I even babble to myself, frequently, in an empty house! It's ok, that's where I need to be right now. My husband too was a very special man, we did pretty much everything together; and I think that's why life seems even more empty right now. I lost not only my husband, but my best friend too.

Well, that snow storm has hit us here in GA. We have around 6 inches of snow already and it's still falling. No school or anything moving tomorrow - how I miss cuddling with Mark on nights like this...........what am I talking about? I miss cuddling with him EVERY night.
14 months is not a long time, Ron..............things like this will always make us remember when. Sending you a hug,

Hey Ron,

Here in Northern Alabama we have snow too! Again!! This is the 3rd snow since last of November!! That is extremely unusual for us. We've got about 9", another unusual thing.
We've been under a Winter Advisory since Sun. AM. Today, sleet has been falling, along with snow, so there is a sheet of ice beginning to cover the snow. I don't mind the beautiful snow, but, ICE!! NO!! I don't want my power to go off, and sometimes that happens when we have ice.

I also went to get some extra groceries, just in case, mainly cause I'm not going out and driving in this snow and ice. NOPE! We don't have it enough for me to be used to trying to drive. All of the roads in North Alabama, and some all the way down to South AL are being called "impassable" and NOT to be out on them UNLESS its an emergency. Of course, there are always people who do not listen. I've seen a few vehicles go by slowly on the road in front of my house.

All schools are closed, and most businesses are too.

So, it is looking like for the next couple of days, I am home, with my Pug and my sister's miniature Dashound. That's ok, I like being home.....LOL

Oh, yes, I posted a photo of where someone drew 2 huge hearts at the end of my driveway, next to the road. I texted my daughter, lives beside me, and asked her about it. She said none of them had even been outside today, so, she had no idea who did it. Oh, well, its funny. Hugs.....

Here in PNW a big storm coming in W-F, news reports say to stock up, hunker down, I had to write down how to start generator as it was always Roger who did it, thinking of all I need to do. So much was I did certain things, Roger did heavy duty things.

In 5 months 10 days so much has changed.
