mind over mental and physical pain

Over 30 years ago, John Kabat-Zinn was given the hard core patients of UMASS hospital, those who had surgeries, medications....none leading to a reduction of their constant physical pain. Today, John's methods of "mindfulness" is practiced to help those with mental illness to overcome symptoms of "mental pain". In 2010, I was hospitalized for severe depression, and I was intoduced to DBT, a therapitic treatment for boarderline personality, however it is used universally now for mental health healing. Below are meditations by John...I try to incorporate meditations for my mind, and for healing my body. Currently, I'm using meditations to help my sleep, heal my kidney disease by detoxing, a morning meditation to focus myself for the day to come. I'm a work in progress, I think the most benefitial aspect of meditation is an awareness of what is "real" rather than what false thinking due to fear might be bringing into my life...I try to live in a fact based world to reduce stress, anxiety and to push through 'imagination, or projection" again, due to fears.

My own life has changed completely by doing one skill....reducing avoidance, meaning what I don't want to do, the DBT method tells me Do the opposite action, Willingness over Willfulness, Regulation of my Emotion.
